John Daly's Banned "Go Long or Go Home" Commercial for Maxfli Golf Balls
The folks who make Maxfli golf balls thought it would be funny to have bigger-than-life pro golfer John "Rehab" Daly promote their product in a new TV commercial. One that featured him singing and drinking in a country bar interspersed with shots of him careering around a golf course in a cart with a beer and later hitting a tee shot off the top of a beer can. This, despite the fact that Big John has openly admitted to battling alcohol abuse throughout his professional golf career. Not surprisingly, the folks at CBS felt that the spot ". . . did not meet the standards of the CBS network," according spokeswoman LeslieAnn "No More Fun of Any Kind" Wade.
