Donroy Merrival Bites Off the Nose of Matthew Osing During Fight in Iowa City
It's so nice when friends can argue over something and only one of them loses their nose? Apparently Donroy Merrival just couldn't get past an alcohol-fueled argument between him and his friend Matthew Osing. Here's the scoop on this pirate-like fight.Donroy Merrival was charged Tuesday with willful injury stemming from the July 24 fight. He also faced charges in an unrelated incident a couple of days later.
Authorities said he was drinking with another man when they started arguing and the other man hit him with a shovel. They say Merrival responded by biting off the man's nose and part of his lip.
"He's a heavy drinker and sometimes when he drinks he changes and gets real nasty," the injured man, Matthew Osing, told KCRG-TV.
He acknowledged hitting Merrival with a shovel, saying, "He was crouched down ready to pounce on me and he was scaring me. ... He jumped up and grabbed me by my face and grabbed my nose and bit it off." The nose was not recovered but police say Merrival didn't think he swallowed it.
"I don't know if he swallowed it or if my dogs might have eaten it, I don't know," Osing said. Both men were taken to the hospital for treatment. Police Sgt. Troy Kelsay said the victim was not justified in hitting Merrival with a shovel in the first place and it is possible more charges could be filed.

Riding across country with your fellow weirdos on a Greyhound has never seemed more horrific. According to several reports, the young man was sleeping and the attack was unprovoked. Here's what happened:man aboard a Greyhound bus repeatedly stabbed and then decapitated a fellow passenger, witnesses said Thursday.
The man was arrested for the killing, which occurred Wednesday night aboard a bus traveling from Edmonton, Alberta, to Winnipeg, Manitoba, The Royal Canadian Mounted Police said in a statement.
Authorities declined to name the attacker and victim, and provided no other details about the attack.
But passenger Garnet Caton said the victim was stabbed dozens of times by the man sitting next to him. The passenger then severed the man's head with a large knife

Judge Judy Hides When Earthquake Strikes During Taping
It doesn't look like Judge Judy would have been the one pulling women and children on to boats when the Titanic sank. Cameras were rolling on the Judge Judy show when the earthquake hit the Los Angeles area. It took her a second to realize what was going on and when she did she took off under her desk. Her audience started to freak out as lights were shaking but she was looooong gone, under the safety of her regal desk. She didn't even give some of her trademark logic and reason before ducking for cover. Oh well. Not everyone can be a hero.

Julio Castillo, a pitcher for the Peoria Chiefs of was charged on a felony assault charge after throwing a baseball into the stands and hitting a fan during a wild brawl Thursday night. According to the Dayton Daily News, Castillo appeared to be trying to hit a Dayton player in the dugout. However, he must not have had great accuracy as he missed struck a fan, who had to be hospitalized. There was a scary moment on Qantas flight 30 from London to Australia. The flight lost cabin pressure at about 30,000.Qantas flight 30 cruised at 29,000ft above the South China Sea on the last leg of its long journey from London to Australia. Weary passengers were dozing or watching the in-flight entertainment and counting down the hours till they landed in Melbourne when there was what one described as an "incredible boom". A rush of air swept through the cabin, sending debris and passengers' belongings flying.
Some people began crying, oxygen masks dropped from the ceiling and the plane lurched downwards after the pilot, John Bartels, put it into an emergency descent, plunging 20,000ft in an attempt to deal with the sudden depressurisation. "It was absolutely terrifying," said one passenger, June Kane. "Everyone thought the plane would disintegrate."
After a few minutes the jumbo jet levelled out. Footage taken by a passenger on a mobile phone shows those on board sitting in tense silence as they braced for a crash landing. The flight was diverted to Manila airport where it made an emergency landing. It was only when the aircraft was on the ground yesterday afternoon that the cause of the drama was revealed: a massive hole had ripped open the fuselage.

And it makes for a great police video, as well, because for some reason, they don't look kindly at drunk driving, much less DUI with small children in the vehicle. The video is below, but here's more on the story from WFTV:David Novick, his friend and Novick's three kids managed to get to the gas station safe and sound, driving a couple blocks from his home down SR-50. He went there to buy cigarettes and passed out with his children, all under five years old, in the car.
Novick never saw the police coming. The 37-year-old Titusville man was out cold when they showed up. His three children were unbuckled in the back seat of the parked car. Police questioned whether there was something more than alcohol involved.
The single father was so out of it, not police, not a slap in the face and not even police removing his children could get him to wake up.
"Dave, they are taking the kids," Novick's friend told the passed-out dad.
When he finally did get out of the car, police said Novick failed a sobriety test and a breathalyzer indicated he had a blood alcohol level of .152, nearly twice the legal limit. He was arrested and charged with DUI, driving with a license suspended and, because there were three children in the car, three counts of child neglect.Labels: arrested, drunk, father of the year

Soccer Referee in Belarus is Banned for Life After Trying to Referee Drunk
Even in Europe it seems that they don't take too highly to sports officials showing up for work drunk. It sounds like Sergei Shmolik was regarded as one of the finest referee's of the sport, that is until he showed up to a game recently and tried to referee though visibly drunk. He has this awesome kinda leaning thing going. What a classic guy. Too bad his actions got him barred for live. Bummer.

We generally would be the last people in line for a Ben Stiller move, especially after he killed our souls in Starsky & Hutch but his movie coming up later this summer called Tropic Thunder has peaked our interest. We are particularly interested in Robert Downey Jr's performance as an actor trying to portray a black character. Here is a clip about the fake documentary about the making of the movie called Rain of Madness. It's damn more effective than a trailer. We even may like Jack Black in this one. Who knows.
