Columbian Soccer Brawl Errupts Between Rival Clubs
Columbia loves their futbol (aka soccer) so much that the fans became involved during this game over the weekend when referee Wilman Roldan didn't call a penalty kick. The fans of the two tival teams America de Cali and Deportivo de Cali got into a massive brawl where 80 people were wounded and 18 of them had stab wounds. Be careful people!

Padres Chris Young Hits Cubs Derrek Lee With a Pitch, Brawl Ensues
Another baseball game, another Cubs brawl, but at least this time it wasn't amongst themselves, but with the opposing team. Here's more from the Beacon Journal:Cubs first baseman Derrek Lee swung at San Diego pitcher Chris Young after he was hit by a pitch in the fourth inning Saturday, setting off a benches-clearing skirmish between the teams.
The two players were ejected, as were Padres pitcher Jake Peavy and Cubs hitting coach Gerald Perry.
Young hit Lee in the back of the upper left arm with the pitch, knocking him to the ground. Lee got up, walked by Young on the way to first, then said something to the 6-foot-10, 260-pound right-hander.
After the pitcher apparently responded, Lee threw a punch that didn't land. Young tried to throw a punch back that missed. Then he and Lee tried to connect at the same time.
By that time both benches had emptied, resulting in pushing, shoving and holding in a scrum as several players fell to the ground before order was restored.

Brawl in Alabama Senate - Senator Charles Bishop Punches Senator Lowell Barron
It looked like something you'd see out of a third world country: members of an elected body getting so angry at each other that punches fly. Only this time, it happened in the good ol' USA in the Alabama State Senate. Here's more from WKRG:Senator Lowell Barron could decide as early as Friday whether he'll press criminal charges against Republican Senator Charles Bishop of Jasper.
Bishop punched Barron in the head after the two argued over a campaign finance bill which, Bishop says, was being held hostage. "It was a hospitalization punch", said Senator Parker Griffith, a Democrat from Huntsville.
Griffith says the punch was so hard, it knocked Barron over his desk on the Senate floor.
Bishop readily admits punching Barron, but Barron denies doing anything to provoke it.
However, the Republican Senator said his Democratic colleague called him an S.O.B.
Senate Democrats filed an emergency motion to expell Bishop for the rest of the session, which was set to end at midnight.
But Bishop dismissed himself after an emotional speech. "I love each of you, and most of all I love this place. But I'm going home, so have a good day." said Bishop.

Chicago Cubs Brawl in Dugout - Carlos Zambrano & Michael Barrett
There was a brawl during the Cubs game Friday, but it didn't clear the benches. Why? It was the Cubs fighting themselves, that's why! Here's more from Inside the Bay Area:Chicago Cubs pitcher Carlos Zambrano and catcher Michael Barrett shoved each other in the dugout Friday, then got into it again in the clubhouse, and Barrett wound up going to a hospital.
The confrontations in the 8-5 loss to Atlanta came after the Braves had just scored five runs in the top of the fifth to make it 7-1. With runners on first and second during the rally, Barrett allowed a passed ball and threw wildly to third for an error that let a run score.
The two confronted each other before the bottom half of the inning but were separated, and Zambrano was sent to the clubhouse by manager Lou Piniella. Barrett went to the clubhouse and wound up with a split lip that was treated at a hospital.

Fight After Internazionale - Valencia v. Milan Football Game (Inter, soccer, brawl)
Brawl Breaks Out at End of Soccer Game, Fans Still Bored -
Soccer officials are looking into the Champions League post-match brawl between Valencia and Inter Milan earlier this week. According to reports, as the tie game ended Valencia's David Navarro (a substitute player) ran out onto the field and punched Milan's Nicolas Burdisso and punched him in the nose. We're probably lucky no one started swinging their skates! Here's more on the video clip from LiveLeak.com:A father videotaping his son's birthday party at a Louisiana skating rink suddenly found himself taping a brawl involving three people, police said.
After seeing the tape, police are searching for a couple seen in the clip recorded at the Hot Wheels skating rink in Shreveport, La.
Police said the fight started as a domestic dispute between a woman and her ex-boyfriend.
The woman's new boyfriend eventually stepped in and started attacking the ex-boyfriend, police said.
Police have not released the suspects' names.

Ugly Hockey Fight of the Year? Petrovicky Knocks Out Newbury - During Penguins - Leafs game 2/10/07
Fighting in hockey is still pretty common. Watching a player get knocked out cold and have to be taken off the ice on a stretcher . . . not so often. Over the weekend the fight was between Toronto Maple Leaf's Kris Newbury and Pittsburgh Penguins forward Robert Petrovicky. Details from Canada.com:Four seconds after Pittsburgh's Maxim Talbot scored to make it 5-5, Newbury and Petrovicky squared off at centre ice. Petrovicky caught Newbury with a hard punch, and the Leafs centre's helmet came off. When Newbury fell back, he struck his head on the ice and was knocked cold.
"'We started fighting and he fell on his head pretty bad so, you know, sorry, but that's part of the game," Petrovicky said. "Hopefully he'll be okay.
"I wish him well."
Newbury lay motionless for 30 seconds before awakening just as Toronto's training staff began treating him. A large pool of blood collected under his head and he was strapped to a spinal board and taken for treatment. He later went to hospital for examination.
